Fisher Wavy is looking for a hard-working and self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Yard Labourer in the Sudbury, Ontario area. The Yard Labourer position will be responsible for performing various general labour tasks such as organizing materials, maintaining the yard, and assisting the workforce with other related duties. This is a full-time permanent position available with competitive wages and a benefits package.
Pay: $26.89-$27.89
JOB DUTIES:
- Maintain the yard by removing trash, debris, and other waste material.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure all materials are properly secured.
- Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, tractors, and power tools.
- Conduct inspections of yard equipment and tools and perform basic maintenance when required.
- Assist in the organization and storage of yard materials and supplies.
- Assist equipment operators, and other skilled labours when necessary.
- Responsible for following all safety protocols and procedures.
- Report any issues or damage in the yard to the supervisor immediately.
- Pressure washing and cleaning vehicles and equipment as required.
- Work in various weather conditions.
- Work shifts including evenings and weekends as required.
- Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License.
- Previous experience in the construction industry or a yard maintenance role is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.).
- Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to collaborate on various job duties.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
