Type N mortar mix has a medium compressive strength and it is composed of 1 part Portland cement, 1 part lime, and 6 parts sand. It is considered to be a general-purpose mix, useful for above-grade, exterior, and interior load-bearing installations. It is also the preferred mortar mix for soft stone masonry.

Type S mortar is suitable for many projects at or below grade. It performs extremely well to withstand soil pressure and wind and seismic loads. Type S is the common choice for many below-grade applications, such as masonry foundations, manholes, retaining walls, and sewers, as well as at-grade projects like brick patios and walkways. 

Because of its size, texture, and colour, pea gravel is typically used for more above-ground projects and applications. Pea gravel can also be used for underground projects, such as drainage and pipe bedding. It’s also a good choice when looking for a fence post installation aggregate.

Traction Sand is for traction on icy and snowy surfaces. It can be used for vehicle weight and used in flood control to block water.

A quarry crusher dust sized at 1/8″ minus. Crusher Dust is a combination of small, gritty pieces of rock and dust, though it typically has more dust than gritty pieces. It is great for leveling and used often in bases and pathways.
